Fire on LPG vessel anchored in Bay of Bengal

A lighter vessel carrying Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) caught fire following an explosion at the vessel anchored at Kutubdia Point in the Bay of Bengal early Sunday (October 13).
The fire originated around 1 am. On information, a rescue team involving coast guard and navy rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.
The team also rescued 31 alive.
Confirming the matter, Coast Guard Eastern Zone Officer Lt. Sakib Mehbub said that the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage could not be known immediately.
Locals said the “B-LPG Sofia” vessel caught fire after an explosion when it was at the outer anchorage of the Chittagong Port around 1am.
