3 killed, 20 burnt in cylinder blast in Lakshmipur

Three people were killed and 20 others sustained burn injuries in a cylinder explosion while taking gas into a bus in Lakshmipur. Many of them are in a critical condition.
The incident took place at Green Life Filling Station in Muktiganj area of the distict around 2 am on Sunday (October 13).
The deceased were identified as Sumon Hossain, son of Botu Mia; Yusuf Mia, son of Suja Mia and Hridoy Hossain.
According to eyewitnesses, a bus of Meghna Paribahan heading towards Ramgati from Lakshmipur came to the Green Life Filling Station to take gas. At this time, the cylinder of the bus exploded all on a sudden, leaving three drivers of the CNG-run auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and 20 others injured.
On information, two units of fire service and police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of the deceased and sent them to Sadar Hospital morgue.
Joinal Abedin, duty doctor at the emergency department of Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital, said that the three people were brought dead at the hospital. Besides, many injured people have been brought. Of them, 10 have been sent to Dhaka as their condition deteriorated.
Lakshmipur Fire Service Station Officer Ranjit Kumar said, “We have recovered three bodies from the spot. Besides, I saw some burnt people at the hospital. The bus cylinder was of low quality. That’s why such an accident happened.”
