Manikganj administration starts street children rehabilitation

The administration of Manikganj has taken initiatives to send the street children to Child Development Center after completing the legal process.

Recently, popular newsportal risingbd published a news titled “Street children addicted to drugs in Manikganj”. Considering the report, the local administration took the rehabilitation process.

District Social Service Office’s Deputy Director Mohammad Abdul Baten confirmed the matter on Saturday (October 26).

The district social service office said the quarterly meeting of District Human Rights Protection Committee was held last Monday (October 21) in the conference room of District Commissioner's office. In the meeting, Jahangir Alam Biswas, Manikganj General Secretary of Sushashoner Jonno Nagorik (Sujan), a civil society platform for good governance mentioned the report. Later, the authority decided to send the street children to rehabilitation center.

Social Service Office’s Deputy Director Mohammad Abdul Baten said that after the meeting of Human Rights Protection Committee, legal issues are being considered for the rehabilitation of street children. As many of the children are addicted to drugs, the cooperation of the district administration and police administration has been sought.
