Apparel manufacturer Tusuka Group has sacked 239 workers of its six factories in Gazipur for their alleged involvement in a strike.

The authorities posted a list of the fired workers at the entrances on Thursday (November 7) morning, triggering huge anger among the workers.

Billal Hossain, a laid off worker, said the factory has been closed for almost a week. Meanwhile, on Wednesday night, a message came on the mobile phone, Md. Billal you are terminated with effect from 6/11/2024. The amount you deserve from the factory will be paid from its account section.

Tarek Hasan, director of Tusuka Group, said they were laid off for allegedly creating unrest and vandalism in the factories.

The decision was taken following the rules of the Labour Act and their all outstandings will be paid as per the law.

Getting the news of laying off, the workers rushed to the factory gates and expressed their anger.

Another worker named Ferdousi Akter said, “We want job back and want to do work. We don’t want any trouble.”
