Former Jatiya Party MP Yahya Chowdhury arrested

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Yahya Chowdhury, a former member of parliament for Sylhet-2 and central leader of the Jatiya Party.
Lt Col Munim Ferdous, director and spokesperson of the legal and media wing of the elite force, confirmed this to the media on Monday (November 11) night.
Yahya Chowdhury was arrested in a joint operation led by RAB-9 and RAB-1 from a house in the Dhaka’s Uttara.
On Tuesday (November 11) morning, RAB-9’s Assistant Superintendent of Police (Media), Md Mashiur Rahman Sohel, said a case had been filed against the former MP at the Kotwali police station on October 2, accusing him of assaulting students and citizens during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement.
Yahya Chowdhury was elected member of parliament from Sylhet-2 in 2014 as a Jatiya Party candidate. He also served as a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Environment and Forests.
