Fire at Gazipur jute mill

Huge amounts of jute were gutted in a fire that broke out at a jute factory in Sreepur of Gazipur on Thursday night (November 14).

On information, two fire units from the adjacent area rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.

The incident took place in I R Jute mills in Barmi Bazar bus stand around 8:30 pm.

Shahadat Hossain, a worker of the factory said the fire originated from a short circuit and spread the whole area. Initially, workers tried to douse the blaze but failed. Later, fire service was informed.

Ibrahim Khan, owner of the jute mill said that the loss from the fire could not be known immediately.
