Sonargaon factory fire under control after 7hrs

A fire that broke out in the warehouse of a paper manufacturing factory of Meghna Group in Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj on early Monday, was brought under control after nearly 7 hours of frantic efforts.

Earlier, the fire originated in the factory around 3:00 am on Monday (November 17).

On information, a total of 12 fire units from Narayanganj, Demra, Kanchpur, Gazaria, and Bandar rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control around 10:00 am.

Confirming the matter, fire service control room official Rafi Al Faruk said initially five fire units were sent to the spot. Later, seven more units joined the effort to douse the blaze.

The cause of the fire was yet to be known, he added.
