Workers of two factories, locals clash in Gazipur

At least five people were injured in a clash between workers of two garment factories and locals in Gazipur.
The incident took place at around 11:30 am on Monday (November 18). At that time, the agitated people set fire to a factory named Amazon Knitwear next to Jirani Bazar.
According to sources, Beximco workers started demonstration blocking roads in the Chakraborty area on Monday morning. At least 20 factories in the area were declared closed at that time.
In addition, the authorities declared the Doreen Fashion Limited factory in Panishail area closed indefinitely since November 1. Although the factory was opened on Sunday, holiday was declared at noon.
On Monday morning, the workers came to work and found that their factory was closed. Seeing the notice, they started a protest demanding the reopening of the factory. At one stage, they took position in the Jirani area of Chandra-Nabinagar road and started a protest. At the same time, workers from the Beximco factory were also protesting at a separate place on the same road.
Around 11:30 am, an altercation took place between the workers of Doreen Fashion and Beximco factory. At one stage, they chased each other and clashed. Later, local residents also got involved in the clash. At least 5 people were injured in the incident.
