5 killed as train hits auto-rickshaw in Cumilla

At least five people were killed when a train hit an auto-rickshaw at an unauthorized railway crossing in Kalikapur area under Burichong upazila of Cumilla on Tuesday morning (November 26).

The deceased were known as Rafiq Mia, Lutfa Begum, Sanu Mia, Safarjan Begum and Saju Mia.

Burichang police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azizul Haque said that Chattola Express hit the auto-rickshaw in the area around 10:00 am, leaving four people dead on the spot and injured four others. Later, another victim died on the way tothe  hospital.

Railway police were informed regarding the accident. Legal steps will be taken in this regard, OC added.
