A court in Chattogram has sent former ISKCON leader Chandan Kumar Dhar to jail after dismissing his bail petition in connection with a sedition case.
Saiful Islam Alif was injured when followers of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari clashed with law enforcers at a Chattogram court demanding his release.
Immediately after the jail order, Chinmoy’s supporters took to the streets trying to prevent a prison van from taking him to the jail.
Due to the protest, the prison van could not move out of the court premises even after three hours.
At one point, police and BGB personnel fired sound grenades to disperse the protesters, leading to a clash.
The protesters also vandalised several vehicles during the clash.
He was produced before the court amid tight security in the sedition case filed with Kotwali Police Station on October 31.
The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detained Chinmoy Krishna Das from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday (November 25) afternoon.
