Bangladeshi fisherman shot by Myanmar Navy

A Bangladeshi fisherman was injured as the members of the Myanmar Navy opened fire on him while fishing in the Bay of Bengal on Wednesday (November 27).
The victim is known as Mohammad Ershad, 40, hailed from Golachipa area of Saint Martin Island.
Saint Martine union parishad member Md Syed Alam confirmed the matter.
He said that a fishing trawler carrying six fishermen went to sea on Wednesday morning. At one stage, the boat float away into Myanmar territory unintentionally. Meanwhile, Myanmar Navy personnel opened fire targeting Bangladeshi fishing boat, leaving the fisherman bullet injured.
Teknaf BGB-2 Battalion commander Major Mohammad Ishtiaq Murshed said investigation is underway in this regard.
