Youth lynched over suspicion of theft in Chandpur

A youth was beaten to death by angry locals on suspicions of theft in Faridganj upazila of Chandpur.

The deceased was known as Babu Gazi.

Local sources said the victim was well-known as a thief in Gabindapur Dakkhin union and adjacent areas. He was wanted in 18 cases in several police stations.

Babu Gazi was given a good beating by locals on November 9. On information, police rescued him and sent Faridpur upazila health complex. He was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Later, he died under treatment on Wednesday (November 27).

Faridganj police station Officer-in-Charge Shah Alam confirmed the matter.
