Police have recovered the bodies of a man and his pregnant wife after breaking open the door of their house in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh.
The two bodies were recovered from Palgaon village in Kachina union of the upazila on Friday (November 29) night.
The deceased were identified as Ratna Begum, 30, daughter of Muktar Hossain from Palgaon village and Kamrul Islam, 35, son of Sirajul Islam from Borta village in the upazila.
According to police and family members of the deceased, Kamrul came to his in-laws’ house in Palgaon from his own house on Friday afternoon with Ratna to deliver her second baby. After dinner, the couple left their first child with his grandmother and went to sleep in another room. Later, around 10 pm, when the son started crying, grandmother Monwara Begum went to that room and knocked on the door but no response came from inside. Later, they broke open the door and found Ratna’s bloody body on the floor of the room and Kamrul’s body with a scarf wrapped around his neck. Later, when locals informed the police, they recovered the two bodies from the spot.
It is initially believed that Kamrul may have committed suicide after killing his wife due to a family feud, said Shamsul Huda Khan, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhaluka Model Police Station.
Police are investigating the incident. The two bodies have been recovered and brought to the police station. Later, they will be sent to the Mymensingh Medical College Morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
