2 killed in Narsingdi AL factional clash

Two people, including a union parishad member, were killed and 10 others injured in a factional clash between two groups of Awami League in Raipura upazila of Narsingdi over establishing supremacy in the area.
The incident took place at Metikanda area of the upazila on Saturday (December 7) morning.
The deceased were identified as Palashtali union parishad member Manik Miah and a woman named Kalpona Begum.
According to police, a long-standing dispute had been at loggerheads between two groups--Jubo League Abid Hasan Rubel and Telecommunications Minister Raziuddin Ahmed Razu—over establishing supremacy in the area. Centering UP elections, this conflict intensified further.
“Two people were killed and 10 others injured in a factional clash between two groups of Awami League. Following the death of two people, additional number of police, army and RAB personnel have been deployed to control the situation,” said superintendent of Narsingdi police Abdul Hannan.
