Fog halts ferry service on Paturia, Aricha route

Ferry service on the routes along the Padma River in Paturia-Daulatdia, and Aricha-Kazirhat have been halted due to dense fog.

Besides, two ferries got stuck in the middle of the river due to the poor visibility caused by dense fog.

Aricha Ghat manager Abu Abdullah said that the fog began to thicken around 11:30 pm on Wednesday. At one point, the visibility dropped at the marking point of the channel and the authorities stopped ferry service to prevent mishaps.

The ferry service would resume once the fog clears, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Daulatdia Ghat Deputy General Manager (Commerce) Md. Salam Hossain.
