Ferry service resumes on Shariatpur-Chandpur route after 9 hrs

Ferry services have resumed nearly 9 hours after the density of fog cleared on the Shariatpur-Chandpur waterway.

The BIWTC Ghat authorities restored ferry services to normal from 8:30 am on Saturday (December 14).

BIWTC Narsinghpur Ferry Terminal Deputy Manager Iqbal Hossain confirmed the resumption of ferry services on the route.

Iqbal said: “Heavy fog appeared since Friday night. To avoid accidents in the fog, ferry services were suspended on this route from 11:30 pm. Later, when the dense fog cleared, ferry services were restored to normal around 8:30 am on Saturday.”

Currently, six ferries, both small and large, are plying on this route, he said.

Earlier, ferry services on this route were suspended from 11:30 pm on Friday.
