Pilgrims have started to leave the Bishwa Ijtema ground in Tongi of Gazipur.

The pilgrims began leaving for their respective destinations after 2 pm on Wednesday (December 18).

The administration has given the directive after two people were killed and many others injured as the supporters of Jobayer and Saad factions locked into a violent clash over control of the Bishwa Ijtema ground.

In a notification, Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dr Nazmul Karim Khan said a ban has been imposed on all forms of rallies, processions, demonstrations, and gatherings near three kilometers of the area following the fatal clash.

The restriction, effective from 2 pm Wednesday, will remain in place until further notice, the notification said.

A large number of law enforcement personnel, including the army and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), have been deployed at the Ijtema ground to keep the situation under control.
