Pilgrims leaving Bishwa Ijtema ground

Pilgrims have started to leave the Bishwa Ijtema ground in Tongi of Gazipur.
The pilgrims began leaving for their respective destinations after 2 pm on Wednesday (December 18).
The administration has given the directive after two people were killed and many others injured as the supporters of Jobayer and Saad factions locked into a violent clash over control of the Bishwa Ijtema ground.
In a notification, Gazipur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Dr Nazmul Karim Khan said a ban has been imposed on all forms of rallies, processions, demonstrations, and gatherings near three kilometers of the area following the fatal clash.
The restriction, effective from 2 pm Wednesday, will remain in place until further notice, the notification said.
A large number of law enforcement personnel, including the army and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), have been deployed at the Ijtema ground to keep the situation under control.
