Case filed over clash on Ijtema ground in Gazipur

A murder case has been filed against 29 named and several hundred unnamed people following a fatal clash between two factions of Tablighi Jamaat at the Tongi Bishwa Ijtema grounds.

SM Alam Hossain, a supporter of Maulana Zubair, filed the case with the Tongi West Police on Thursday evening, said Tongi West police station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Iskandar Habibur Rahman.

A case has been filed in this regard. Police drive is underway to detain the accused, OC added.

Earlier, on Wednesday, a clash between two factions of the Tabligh Jamaat, one led by Maulana Muhammad Saad Kandhalvi and the other led by Maulana Zubair broke out over the control of the Ijtema ground at Tongi, causing three deaths.
