Fire breaks at Gazipur factory, 7 fire units battling flames

A fire broke out at a button factory at Bhangnahati in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur district on Sunday (December 22).

On information, seven firefighting units rushed to the spot to bring the blaze under control.

Gazipur fire service deputy-assistant director Mohammad Al Mamun said the fire originated at the factory around 1:30 pm.

Abdur Rahman, a security official of the factory said the fire broke out in the chemical warehouse of the factory. Several explosions occurred in the immediate aftermath, leaving several workers injured. The injured have were sent to the hospital.

Sreepur Fire Service’s station officer Md Humayun Kabir said initially four fire service units started to douse the blaze first. Later, three more firefighting units joined the team.
