One killed in another Dhaka-Mawa Expressway crash

A woman was killed and five others were injured in a collision between a covered van and a private car at the Dhaleshwari Toll Plaza in Munshiganj on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway amid dense fog.
The accident took place at the Dhaka-bound lane of the expressway around 5am on Monday (December 23).
The deceased was identified as Panna Banik, 35.
Upon receiving the news, police and fire service personnel arrived at the scene and recovered the body of the deceased.
Atikur Rahman, sub-inspector (SI) of Hasara Highway Police Outpost, said, “Due to dense fog, a covered van hit a private car from behind, resulting in the death of a woman at the scene.”
Dewan Abul Kalam Azad, station officer of Srinagar Fire Service, said, “The deceased’s body and the injured were recovered, and sent to the Srinagar Upazila Health Complex.”
Earlier, on Sunday, multiple vehicles were involved in collisions across six locations on the same highway, resulting in one fatality and at least 15 injuries.
