4 members of a family killed in M’singh road crash

Four members of a family were killed and two others injured after a sand-laden drum truck hit a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw in Tarakanda upazila of Mymensingh on Thursday (December 26).
The accident took place at Gachtala of the upazila on the Mymensingh-Netrakona regional road.
The deceased were identified as Abdur Rashid, 55 and his wife Bokula Akter, 45, Bokula’s brother Bidya Mia, 42, Bidya’s daughter-in-law Lovely Akter, 18. All are the residents of Bahadurpur village in Netrokona.
Quoting locals, police said a CNG-run auto-rickshaw was heading towards Netrakona from Mymensingh with passengers. When the auto-rickshaw reached that area, a speeding drum truck coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with it. Two people of the three wheeler died on the spot and four more were injured.
The injured were rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where two were declared dead.
Tarakanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Tipu Sultan confirmed the news.
Legal action will be taken in this regard, the OC added.
