Youth stabbed dead over cricket in Cumilla

A youth was stabbed to death allegedly by his playmates over a dispute centering a cricket match in Brahmanpara of Cumilla on Thursday (December 26).

The deceased was known as Shafiullah, 18, son of Ershad Mia, hailed from Brahmanpara Sadar.

Quoting locals, police said there was clash among Jahirul Islam’s son Ridoy and Sanaulla centering cricket bat. At one stage, Sanaullah’s elder brother went to Shafiulla to inform him the matter. Meanwhile, 7-8 youths attacked Shafiulla, leaving him critically injured.

Later, locals rushed him to Brahmanpara health complex first and then shifted to Cumilla Medical College Hospital where duty doctor declared him dead.

Brahmanpara police station Officer-in-Charge Tamas Barua confirmed the matter.
