UP member, son among 3 killed in Madaripur clash

A violent clash between two groups in Kalkini, Madaripur, on Friday morning left a local UP member, his son and another person dead, and 30 others injured.

The deceased were known as Aktar Shikdar, his son Maruf Sikdar, and a person named Siraj Chowkidar.

Sources said the clash took place over establishing supremacy in Banshgari union of the upazila. Meanwhile, more than fifty cocktails were exploded. Later, army, police and RAB personnel rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

Madarpur additional police super Jahangir Alam said there was a dispute among slain Aktar member and union parishad chairman Sumon. Following the dispute, both sides locked into the clash, leaving the three people dead.
