Ex-ward councilor hacked dead in Jashore

Miscreants hacked a former ward councilor to death in Abhaynagar upazila of Jashore early Saturday (December 28).

Deceased Ziauddin Palash was the former councilor of Ward No. 4 under Noapara municipality. He was also the general secretary of ward Awami League.

The incident took place at an abandoned room behind Noapara income tax office around 10pm in the municipal area.

According to police and local sources, miscreants fled the scene after Palash was hacked indiscriminately. Being informed, he was rescued and taken to Upazila Health Complex where duty doctor declared him dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Abhaynagar Police Station Md Emadul Karim confirmed the news.
