6 killed on expressway: Bus owner arrested

Police arrested W Bepari, owner of the Bepari Paribahan bus that was involved in the recent accident at the Dhaleshwari Toll Plaza on the Dhaka-Mawa expressway, leaving six people dead.

The law enforcers arrested him around 12:30am on Sunday (December 29) from Shibchhar of Madaripur.

Hashara police super AKM Aktaruzzaman Bosunia confirmed the matter in a press conference at Hashara highway police outpost.

AKM Aktaruzzaman said that the faulty bus was taken out of the garage the day before the accident. The bus was unfit. The route permit was expired. In addition, the driver was a drug addict. The driver did not have a driving license.

Earlier on Friday (December 27), a passenger bus of Bepari Paribahan lost control and rammed into a private car, motorcycle, and microbus waiting to pay toll at the Dhaleshwari toll plaza in South Keraniganj on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway, killing six people, including two children.
