No bar on AL to participate in polls unless banned: CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said, “Unless the government or the court imposes a ban on the Awami League, there is no obstacle for the party to participate in elections”.
The CEC made the comment at a views exchange meeting with election officials at Chattogram Circuit House on Monday (December 30) morning.
The CEC said, “The issue of Awami League’s participation in the elections is mainly a political decision or a court decision. I have heard that some people have filed a case to prevent the party from participating in the elections. In this case, we will take actions according to the court’s verdict”.
Chattogram Regional Election Officer Yunus Ali and election officials of the division participated in the meeting.
