A Chattogram court has rejected the bail appeal filed for ex-ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari in a sedition case filed in connection with disrespecting the national flag of Bangladesh.
Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Saiful Islam rejected the bail plea on Thursday noon (January 2).
Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), AAM Humayun Kabir, confirmed the matter.
He said today was the scheduled date for Chinmoy Krishna Das' bail hearing. The court, after hearing arguments from both sides, rejected the bail application and issued an order.
Tight security measures were taken to ensure security in the court area during the hearing. A 11 member-team led by Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya stood for the accused.
Chinmoy's lawyer Apurba said, "The court has listened to our arguments. The bail has been rejected. We will approach the higher court."
