Ferry service resumes on Paturia-Daulatdia route after 9 hrs

Ferry services have resumed on the country’s important Paturia-Daulatdia waterway after being suspended for nearly nine hours due to dense fog.
The services resumed on Saturday (January 4) around 8 am when the fog on the river cleared.
Earlier, as the fog density increased in the Padma River basin on the Paturia-Daulatdia route at night, the beacon lights and marking points of the channel became unclear at around 11 pm. The BIWTC authorities stopped ferry services to avoid accidents.
Later, when the fog density decreased slightly around 8 am on Saturday, the ferry services resumed.
BIWTC’s Aricha Ghat Branch Assistant Manager (Commerce) Md Salam Hossain said that ferry services resumed on the route from 8 am as the fog density decreased.
Ferries with vehicles on broad, which were waiting at ghat to cross the Padma River, started plying towards respective destination around 8 am, he said.
