5 killed as train hits microbus in Faridpur

At least five people were killed and four others injured as a train hit a microbus on a rail crossing in Munshibazar area of Faridpur district on Tuesday (January 7).
The accident took place around 11:30 am. However, the identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Fire service officials said a Hiace microbus carrying, 10 to 11 people was crossing a railway crossing when it was hit by the Dhaka-bound train Madhumoti Express.
Meanwhile, the microbus fell into a nearby ditch and its fuel cylinder exploded. There was no gateman at the railway crossing at the scene of the accident.
Faridpur fire service station officer Md Nazrul Islam said three people died on the spot. Later, two more injured people died at hospital.
Md Asaduzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Faridpur Katwali police station confirmed the matter.
