4 dead as buses, ambulance catch fire after accident in Savar

At least four people were killed when a gas cylinder explosion caused by a collision between an ambulance and two buses in Savar’s Fulbaria area early Thursday (January 9).

The accident took place around 2:00 am.

Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

Fire service control room duty officer Rakibul Hasan said that four bodies were recovered from the spot.

He said the ambulance caught fire when a passenger bus hit it from back side. Later, the fire spread to the adjacent area and burnt another bus. On information, two fire units rushed to the spot and brought the blaze under control.

Savar highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sawgatul Islam said the bodies were sent to hospital for autopsy. Investigation is underway in this regard.
