Case dockets stolen from Chattogram court found at scrap shop

Police have recovered the nine sacks of files (case dockets) of different cases stolen from the balcony of Chattogram court building from a scrap shop.
The documents were recovered from the scrap shop located in the Patharghata area of Chattogram city in the early hours of Thursday (January 9).
One Rasel has been detained in this connection.
Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Karim said, “Some 1,911 documents of various cases disappeared from the balcony of Chattogram court building. On January 5, Public Prosecutor (PP) of Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court Mofizul Haque Bhuiyan filed a general diary (GD) at the Kotwali Police Station. Later, a young man named Rasel was detained after analysing CCTV footage.”
Rasel used to sell tea on the court premises. He stole the documents between December 13 and December 31 during the court’s vacation period and sold them at Tk 16 a kg at the scrap shop, the OC said.
Legal action will be taken in this regard, he added.
