Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin has said that the current Election Commission has not taken the responsibility to win or defeat anyone.
“We have not nominated any party, individual or group who will win or defeat. They will win who will get people’s vote”, he said.
The CSE said this while speaking at a day-long workshop and discussion titled ‘Challenges in the Voter Registration Process and Ways to Overcome those’ at a convention hall in Moulvibazar town on Thursday (January 9).
“Earlier, if you did not support someone, you had to face problems. When officers were working, they were asked to favor someone. But the previous situation has completely been changed, if you try to favor, it will be difficult”, he said.
He also said, “Now the vote will not be held like before. We are warning you in this regard, we will be firm”.
Sylhet Regional Election Officer Mohammad Nurul Alam presided over the workshop while Election Commission Secretariat Joint Secretary Md Moin Uddin Khan, Additional Secretary KM Ali Newaz, Project Director Muhammad Mustafa Hasan, Moulvibazar Deputy Commissioner Md Israel Hossain and District Election Officer Nasir Uddin Patwari also spoke on the occasion.
Moulvibazar Sadar Upazila Election Officer Md Emdadul Haque and Bishwanath Upazila Election Officer of Sylhet Swarnali Chakraborty jointly moderated the programme.
