2 killed in bulkhead-speedboat collision in Meghna River

Two people were killed and one was injured after a speedboat collided with an anchored bulkhead in the Meghna river in Gazaria upazila of Munshiganj.

The incident happened around 9:30pm on Friday (January 10) in Guagachhia union of Gazaria.

The deceased were identified as Audud Bepari, 35, and Naeem, 30. They were the residents of Guagachhia union of Gazaria.

Assistant Sub-inspector of Gazaria Naval Police Outpost Md Alamin said a speedboat carrying around 10-12 people collided with an anchored bulkhead in the Meghna river around 9:30pm, leaving two people dead and another injured.

Saima Akhter, a physician at the emergency department of Gazaria Health Complex, said, “Three people were brought to the hospital. Of them, two were brought dead and the other one was seriously injured. He is undergoing treatment here.”
