BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged the interim government to take immediate steps to prepare for the election in July-August this year.
Fakhrul said this while addressing a press conference on Tuesday noon (January 14).
He said, "It's possible to prepare the voter list within a month and the national election can be held mid-year."
Delaying the elections will only exacerbate the political and economic crisis. It is possible to hold elections in July-August this year, he added.
Stating that there is not much disagreement between BNP and Jamaat on the election issue, he said, "If BNP comes to power, the ongoing trial process of fascism will continue."
