Bank robbery attempted in Lalmonirhat by digging tunnel

By digging a tunnel, a group of miscreants have attempted to commit robbery at a Sonali Bank branch in Lalmonirhat’s Sadar upazila.
Being informed, members of the law enforcement agencies, including the police and the army, cordoned off the bank. For security reasons, no one is being allowed to approach the bank.
The incident took place at Sonali Bank Borobari branch in Lalmonirhat’s Sadar upazila around 1 am on Tuesday (January 28).
According to the police and locals, the miscreants dug a tunnel in the backside of the bank and attempted to enter the bank around 1 am.
Sensing their presence, office assistant of the bank started shouting for help. Then locals rushed to the spot and found a tunnel in the backside of the bank.
Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station Mohammad Nurnobi said, “Police, army personnel and bank officials are investigating the incident.”
Whether money has been looted from the bank can be said after the investigation, he added.
