Former Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman has been put on a 5-day remand in a murder case.
Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Debi Rani Roy granted the remand plea at around 9: 30am on Friday.
The Rangpur Metropolitan Police arrested Nuruzzaman Ahmed from his one relative's house in the Post Office lane on Central Road in the metropolis on Thursday night.
A case has been filed against the former minister and his son and 128 others in the incident of the death of Mahmudul Hasan Munna during the anti-discrimination movement in Rangpur.
Munna's father Abdul Majid filed the case in the Rangpur Metropolitan Magistrate Court on August 29 last year.
Earlier, on October 27 last year, Lalmonirhat District Detective Branch (DB) police arrested Shamsuzzaman Ahmed Bhutto, the younger brother of former Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed, from Kaliganj Bazar in the same case.
Meanwhile, some eight cases have been filed in the name of former minister in Lalmonirhat district since August 5.
