People will suffer if we delay state reconstruction: Tarique

BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has said, “We are capable of resolving various issues such as how the parliament will be run in the coming days, how long the parliament's term will be, how many times a person can become prime minister - through discussion. If we discuss these excessively, we will lag behind. And if we delay state reconstruction, the country and the people of the country will suffer.”

He also said, “If we engage in arguments only for our own interests, then the fugitive dictatorship will benefit the most.”

He was addressing virtually the biennial council of the Brahmanbaria district unit BNP held on Abbas Uddin Khan Shohagpur Model College premises in Brahamanbaria on Saturday.

He said the fascist Awami League is trying to raise its ugly head again in the country. The party destroyed the country’s rule of law and administrative structure by indulging in all-out corruption, nepotism and politicisation during its last 15 years of rule, he said.

People from all walks of life must remain united to restore good governance and uphold voting rights in the country, Tarique Rahman said.

He also urged his party members to bridge gaps by engaging in discussions among themselves over any issues.

Tarique reiterated that BNP has already presented a 31-point framework for rebuilding Bangladesh, overhauling all sectors, ensuring the welfare of the people, and resolving their problems. “The sooner we can begin the rebuilding process, the faster we can develop the country and alleviate the people's problems.”

This council of BNP's Brahmanbaria district unity took place after nearly 12 years, as part of the party's efforts to overhaul its grassroots.
