Fog halts Paturia-Daulatdia ferry services

The authorities of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) have temporarily suspended ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia route due to dense fog.

The services on the route were suspended from 10:30 pm on Saturday (February 1). BIWTC Daulatdia Ghat section manager Mohammad Salahuddin confirmed the matter to risingbd this morning.

He said that the density of fog has increased in the area since Saturday night. This has made ferry services on the route risky and the marking lights of the ferry have become dim.

They took the decision to avoid accidents on the route, Salahuddin said.

Several vehicles got stuck on both sides of the river Padma due to the suspension of the ferry service. The ferry service on the route will resume once the fog disappeared, he added.
