Folk singer Farida Parveen admitted to ICU

Renowned Lalon Sangeet singer Farida Parveen has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Universal Medical College and Hospital in the capital with breathing problem.
She suddenly fell ill early Saturday (February 1) and was later taken to the hospital.
Farida’s husband, flutist Gazi Abdul Hakim, confirmed the information.
He said, Farida Parveen was transferred to the ICU following immediate medical tests. Doctors have confirmed that an infection has spread to her lungs.
Additionally, she has underlying health conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, thyroid issue and other age-related complications. She is currently under the care of specialist in respiratory diseases, nephrology, and critical care. Her condition remains critical, and doctors have recommended dialysis.
Farida Parveen began her musical career in 1968 as a listed artist at Rajshahi Betar, where she performed Nazrul Sangeet. In the early 1970s, she gained popularity by singing patriotic songs. In recognition of her contributions to music, she received the Ekushey Padak in 1987. In 2008, she was honored with the Fukuoka Asian Culture Award from the Japanese government. Additionally, in 1993, she won the National Film Award for her contributions to film music.
