The incident took place at Kafi’s house located in Rajpara village under Kolapara upazila of Patuakhali around 1:30 am on Wednesday (February 12).
Upon receiving news of the fire, a team of Kolapara Fire Service quickly rushed to the spot and brought the flame under control after two hours of their frantic efforts.
Nuruzzaman Kafi’s father, Maulana Mohammad ABM Habibur Rahman, stated, “The miscreants set our house on fire. This was deliberately done to harm us. We demand a thorough investigation and justice.”
Cash, jewelry, and other essential documents kept in the house were burnt to ashes in the fire, he added.
Neighbour Wali Ullah Imran said, “We informed the fire service soon after the house was set on fire and helped the firefighters to douse the blaze. This was completely a planned act as the door was locked from the outside. Everyone came out breaking the door open and wearing just their clothes.”
