Arakan Army abducts 19 fishermen with boats

The Arakan Army (AA), an armed rebel group from Myanmar, abducted 19 Bangladeshi fishermen along with four fishing boats from the Naf River at Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar district.
The incident took place at Shah Porir Dwip, Gholar Char, and Naikkhangdia areas on Thursday (February 20) noon.
Teknaf Kayuk Khali Boat Malik Samiti president Abdul Aziz and Shah Porir Dwip Majherpara boat terminal general secretary Abdul Gafur confirmed the incident.
Teknaf Kayuk Khali Boat Malik Samiti president Abdul Aziz said that Arakan Army abducted 9 fishermen along with two trawlers while they were returning from fishing.
On the other hand, Shah Porir Dwip Majherpara boat terminal general secretary Abdul Gafur said that Arakan Army abducted 10 more fishermen along with two fishing boats.
The Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sheikh Ehsan Uddin said, “We came to know about the abduction news. Necessary action will be taken after discussing the matter with the BGB.”
Earlier, on February 10, the Arakan Army abducted four fishermen who are yet to be returned.
