Ministry of Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain has said that “Haji Mohammad Shariat Ullah was the first freedom fighter of Bengal and the subcontinent as well”.
The adviser was speaking as the chief guest at the 80th Faraizi Movement Waz Mahfil at Bahadurpur Madrasa Darbar of Haji Shariat Ullah in Shibchar upazila of Madaripur on Friday.
Referring to the contribution of Hazi Shariat Ullah to spread and promote Islamic norms and ideals in the Bengal, the adviser said, historic Faraizi movement led by Haji Shariat Ullah was forged against the British oppression on farmers.
The religious affairs adviser said he would talk to the Election Commission so that the Faraizi Movement can get registration as a political party.
Khalid Hossain urged all to work for projecting the contribution of Hazi Shariat Ullah in the Faraizi movement saying the history of the movement should be included in the graduation and post-graduation syllabuses.
He also called upon Muslims to forget the differences and remain united for greater interests.
Pir Abdullah Mohammad Hasan, founder of Haji Shariat Ullah's Darbar and renowned Ulemas were present on the occasion.
