62 kg venison seized in Khulna

Coast Guard and the Forest Department in a joint operation have recovered 62 kilograms of venison at South Bedkashi union under Koyra upazila in Khulna district.

They recovered the meat from a floating boat on the Kopotakkho River early Saturday.

Kobadak Forest Station Officer Md. Anwar Hossain said that acting on a tip-off, they conducted a raid in Ghorilal area on the Kopotakkho river. 

“Sensing or presence, they jumped into the Kopotakkha River and fled. Upon inspecting the abandoned boat, we found 62 kg of venison, which was stored in a container with ice. The boat was also seized”.

A case will be lodged under the Forest Act, and the seized venison will be disposed of by burial as per court instructions, he also added.
