Ex-UP chairman Mozammel arrested in Noakhali

Police arrested a former chairman at Subarnachar upazila in Noakhali early Monday (February 24).

Mozammel Hossain, 47, was arrested from Totar Bazar in the upazila around 1 am.

Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Char Jabbar Police Station Shahin Mia said, “Mozammel will be handed over to Noakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday noon.”

The OC said that Mozammel is a fugitive accused with warrants in two cases. In addition, another case was filed against him a few days ago for vandalizing and arson at the house of a BNP leader in 2018. Since the case, he went into hiding.

Mozammel is a former chairman of Charbata Union Parishad under the upazila and a member of Subarnachar Upazila Awami League.
