Chandpur Correspondent || risingbd.com

The government has announced a two-month fishing ban in the Padma-Meghna rivers to increase the production of the hilsa fish.
The fishing will begin from Friday midnight (February 28). The ban will continue till April 30.
Fishermen will receive food aid rice during the ban. 40,000 fishermen registered in Chandpur will be given 160 kg of rice in four installments. However, fishermen claim that the government food aid is insufficient.
Any person violating the government restriction and catching fish from the Hilsa sanctuaries will face a penalty of Tk5,000 or imprisonment for one to two years or both.
