Barapukuria coal power plant’s 3rd unit resumes operation

The third unit of the Barapukuria coal-based thermal power station with a capacity of 525-megawatt (MW) power at Parbatipur upazila in Dinajpur resumed its power generation.

The third unit with a capacity of 275-megawatt (MW) power resumed its power generation around 10pm on Friday (February 28).

Chief engineer of the power station of Parbatipur upazila Md Abu Bakar Siddique confirmed the matter.

He said that after starting the third unit, around 180 to 200 megawatt of electricity is being generated every day.

The generated power is being supplied at the national grid since the resumption of power generation, the Chief Engineer added.

The third unit of the Barapukuria thermal power station was shut down due to technical faults on February 17.
