Juba Dal activist hacked dead in Barishal

An activist of Jubo Dal was hacked to death allegedly by his rivals over establishing supremacy in Barishal's Kaunia upazila on Sunday night (March 3).

The deceased was known as Md Suruz Gazi, 35, son of Kanchan Gazi. He was Juba Dal activist of ward number 3.

Local sources said there had been a long-standing dispute between Suruz and his neighbor Shahin alias Shona Shahin over establishing supremacy in the area.

Shahin, as a sequel to the dispute, locked into an altercation with Suruz over the issue around 8:30 pm. Shahin and his son Emon, at one stage, stabbed Suruz with a lethal weapon, leaving him critically injured on the spot. Later, he was rushed to hospital where he died under treatment.

Kaunia police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Nazmul Nishat confirmed the matter.
