Death toll in Narayanganj gas fire rises to 3

Another victim has succumbed to her wounds after a gas leak sparked a fire at a home leak in Siddhirganj of Narayanganj, raising the death toll to three.

The woman Rupali Bagum, 20, died around 6:00 pm on Sunday (March 9) at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.

Earlier, Rupali's 18-month-old child Sumaiya died from burns during treatment at the institute on Saturday. Her husband Sohag, 23, remains hospitalised.

Another victim, 40-year-old Hannan, succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of Saturday. He had suffered burns on 45 of his body.

On March 3, the fire broke out around 2:30am in a tin-roofed house in Narayanganj. Eight people from two families suffered severe burns in the incident.
