United Nations Secretary General António Guterres observed various handicrafts and daily use items made by Rohingya people during his visit to Rohingya camp at Ukhiya in Cox's Bazar.

On Friday afternoon (March 14), he visited the Multipurpose Center, where he saw clothing, bags, bamboo and jute products, wooden crafts, and other handicrafts made by Rohingya men and women.

The UN Secretary General praised these items and encouraged Rohingya’s efforts toward self-sufficiency, according to Rohingya leader Nurul Amin.

Jamila, a Rohingya craftswoman, expressed her joy at the Secretary General's interest in their handmade bags and fabrics. "We are very happy that the UN chief appreciated our work. His praise will inspire us even more," she said.

The Rohingya people shared that Guterres had visited them as a guardian, observing their work and way of life.

They informed him of their demands, and he assured them that he would look into the matters.
