One killed as 2 trucks collide in Tangail

A truck driver was killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision between two trucks in Kalihati upazila of Tangail.

The accident took place on Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge highway in Hatia area of the upazila around 7:30 am on Thursday (March 20).

However, the deceased could not be identified immediately.

Jamuna Bridge East Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Nazim Uddin said that a truck loaded with potatoes from North Bengal was heading towards Dhaka in the morning. On the way, a truck loaded with rice from Dhaka and bound for North Bengal reached the spot and the two trucks collided head-on. The driver of the rice-laden truck died on the spot and two others were seriously injured.

Later, the injured were rescued and sent to a hospital.
